Life in the present era is no easy run. For personal or professional endeavors.

The Internet is both a blessing and a curse, with massive amounts of data available at the click of a button. Sorting through the returns from any search engine can become time consuming and quite often results in frustrating and less-than-productive efforts.

If you own a business, or work for “self-employed,” as I do, time becomes a major road-block. Especially when you moving a project from the brain-storming, planning stages to the fulfillment and completion stages.

Having a contract deadline compounds the problem. The ability to focus on the particulars–even as a team member–gets lost in the rush to complete your work on time and on a budget.

There is an easy solution. Simple for some, more difficult for the Type A personalities.

A wonderful quote I’ve come across by Gautama Buddha says it perfectly: “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”

Live (and work) only in the present.

When your mind begins to boil with details, take a couple of deep breathes, clear your mind, and focus on where you are: in the present. Where you can only be at any given moment.

Use this technique every time your stress levels start to rise. You will find that you are more relaxed and open-minded as a result.

And that open mind is where your creative genius, your Muse, if you will, steps in. Where “things” come together and fall into place.

Where projects come together, almost effortlessly. If only you will let them.
