The Power of Words

The Power of Words

Sometimes, even the smallest piece of advice can have a dynamic impact on other writers, especially where it concerns our own experiences with writing content, both fiction and nonfiction. Some of my own”Trojan horse” secrets may unwittingly be conveyed in my stories, posts, articles, and testimonials, and often reveal ideas, or nuggets of advice, of which I may not even be aware.

It is only when I publish those thoughts–put them”out there,” if you will–and then come back at some later time to review a particular passage, that I have a moment of epiphany. Not some kind of “fall on your knees” revelation, but a realization that I’m getting my message down on paper/in print.

That I have an active connection with my Muse.

Whether anyone actually reads my work and values it is another thing. The point is, the value I personally take from the experience is worth its weight in gold.

I don’t claim to be a guru. Far from it. But I do know that the spoken/written word has great power, and that notion is critical to putting “meat” in my writing. Even the Christian Bible in Genesis pays tribute to this notion: “In the beginning was the Word….”

It’s learning how to use that power. Very few writers have that skill right out of the gate. Most of us, like myself, work at it for years before it becomes manageable.

I can testify, however, that it is worth every moment, every rewritten passage, to get it done right. And it becomes a labor of love, like no other.
